Picking Dungeness crab legs with melted butter.

By the time you serve these Dungeness crab legs they won’t be the only alchy in the house.

On a sun-shiny spring day when it’s still chilly outside but the summer smell is in the air I like to get drunk and pretend I’m on a holiday in Margaritaville. (Although I have never been there (that’s what drunk pretending is for, silly!))

In order for this meal to really take you away to a sandy beach in the Caribbean you need to have a couple of umbrella drinks before you start to cook, one while you are cooking and another with your meal. Trust me, it makes these crabs taste better, your company more entertaining and loosens up your vocal cords for the Jimmy Buffet sing-a-long.

Invite your favorite friends who frequent the tanning beds often and remind them of the harmful sun rays, they love that.

These crab legs make an elegant main course meal for two or can be served as a starter for eight. They pair well with coleslaw or any crisp salad and of course a fruity boozy beverage.

*I’ve made this recipe with Dungeness crab because that’s what is usually available to me but you can use King crab legs or Snow crab legs.
