Imitation crab with macaroni and cheese

You need to serve this Imitation crab pasta recipe at tonights dinner and see what happens to your super-power-status…

Superhero-ing is really the only way go. You get special treatment from hoyty-toyties. You get a top-of-the-line sports trainer to whip your body into tip-top svelte shape so you can fit into the totally awesome full-body leotards. Nobody gives you grief about run-on sentences;) Sometimes you even get to fly -or scale walls -or run faster than the speed of light. You see? It really is the right career move for any personality type.

So here is a quick way (that really should not be practiced by anyone) to become a super hero at tonight’s dinner table. Accidentally set a table napkin on fire, use your plastic place mat to shield the persons face and use your water to douse the fire. Just like that, you became a super hero.

OR, an easier and less stressful super hero technique is to put on your favorite skin-tight outfit from the 80’s and make this fantastic meal that everyone will be thrilled about and give you the special attention that you deserve.

What do you mean you don’t fit into your 80′s skin-tight outfit? Well how about you carry around a ghetto blaster on your shoulder and we’ll call it even.

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces fettucini pasta (or what ever type pasta you have in your pantry, I used macaroni tonight)
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups of nonfat milk
  • 1 1/4 cups (5 ounces) Gruyere Cheese, grated (the better the cheese, the better your sauce will taste)
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 pounds of imitation crab
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons dry white wine
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup of mixed vegetables (optional)

Method to the Rad-ness:

Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray.

Cook and drain the pasta and set aside.

Combine flour, salt and milk in a medium sized pot. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly with a whisk. Cook for 1 more minute, until slightly thick, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in 3/4 cup of the cheese, stirring until melted. Set aside.

Melt butter in a large pan. Add garlic and cook until golden over medium-high heat (about 3 minutes). Add the imitation crab, wine and cayenne, and toss for one minute.

Add the pasta and crab meat to the cheese mixture and toss to combine. Spoon everything into the prepared  baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Bake for about 12 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
